Just as Ido feels there is no hope. A rescue mission frees him from his chains. He tries to rescue his father, Oto, a second time and for a brief flicker his father's eyes return to normal.

He tells Ido he has slipped too far into the abyss, he is too far gone to be saved. He tells Ido to save himself...and humankind.
